Steve Reynes concentrates his practice in the areas of environmental law, development permits, and government relations. Steve heads the firm's Environmental and Land Use practice, including Act 250, environmental permits administered by the Agency of Natural Resources and the Army Corps of Engineers, and zoning. He has represented The Stratton Corporation in various environmental permit matters since 1996, including its successful Act 250 Resort Master Plan proceedings. He recently has begun permitting work on the City of South Burlington's exciting City Center project, which aims to create a new downtown. Steve is Co-Chair of the Vermont Bar Association's Environmental Law Section. Steve obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Michael's College in 1967 and graduated from Vermont Law School in 1979, where he was an editor of the law review. He was admitted to the Vermont Bar in 1979. In the 1980's, he served three terms in the Vermont House of Representatives, where he chaired the Natural Resources Committee, and one term in the Senate, where he served on the Committees on Finance and Natural Resources. He was later appointed by Governor Madeleine Kunin as Chair of the Vermont Environmental Board, and by Governor Howard Dean as a member of the Vermont Water Resources Board. Steve is listed among The Best Lawyers in America in the field of environmental law. He is also recognized as one of the top zoning/land use lawyers in Vermont by The Chambers USA Guide.
